MUSICAL CHAIRS (1808)
Plot:The games that adults create for kids are supposed to teach kids how to act like adults. In this way little girls learn all the joys of looking after babies and little boys learn what fun it is to go to war. They also learn how to thrash and humiliate theri rivals, and in this respect, any game bears a remarkable resemblence to politics. If we then turn this perspective on its head we can see war and politics as a kids game played in a far too serious way by a group of adults with very sick minds. Because of this, in order to create a piece of theatre about the Peninsular War of 1808, (a work commisioned to take part in the bi-centennial "celebrations" of that war) ÑU TEATRO decided to use the metaphor of the game. In this case "Musical Chairs".
